In the long tradition of nuns gone wild narratives, of which Diderot's THE NUN is a prime example, comes Polish director Walerian Borowczyk's BEHIND CONVENT WALLS. Based loosely on the novel PROMENADES DANS ROME by Stendhal, the film is an erotic fleshfest that embraces in every man's fantasy about the secret world and desires of nuns. Cloistered from the outside world and brimming with libidinous urges, these "pious" women turn to orgiastic experimentation that includes sapphic coupling and masturbation.
